Burkie Boards is an exclusive label that I shape for Alan Burke in Barbados. Alan and myself have a longstanding friendship as I have shaped boards for him since the 1980′s. Alan is a former pro surfer who traveled the world doing both top rated amateur events and numerous pro events. He was always known as a fierce competitor who could find a way to beat you, no matter what the conditions were like. He now runs a successful Surf School in his home country of Barbados and we work together doing his line of Burkie surfboards. These boards are held to the same high standards of perfection and state of the art performance that the RPD boards are and I am proud to be associated with this line of surfboards. He has many of Barbado’s top up and coming young surfers on the boards including his sons, Josh and Jacob Burke along with young ripper, Andrew Rose. Alan understands what good surfing is and what kind of design you need for your own particular level of surfing. Alan is also my point of contact for the entire Caribbean and his contact info is on my dealer page. so if you are in Barbados or one of the other islands, touch base with him and check out the boards he has to offer.

" Even though I have shaped tens of thousands of boards, I am still a student when it comes to the equipment that we should be riding. I've always said surfing is all about having fun, no matter what your level of ability is. The truth is, while not everyone necessarily rips, everyone is capable of having fun. I'm learning, by firsthand experience, that sometimes you just need to be practical and realistic about your ability and what you are riding. Don't let the conditions of the surf or poor judgement in the equipment you choose to ride, dictate your session. Know your options and change up the board you are riding if you need to and I promise, if you do that, you will re-energize your surfing and rekindle the stoke you may have thought you lost..."
